Bangladesh e-commerce giant daraz.com.bd, with the intent to inspire future marketers and entrepreneurship, tagged with one of the leading private Universities of the country Independent University, Bangladesh and organized a two day event titled “Daraz Presents – IUB Marketing Carnival”
The event took place at IUB premises on 9th and 10th March. At the event, there were 30 stalls which displayed different kinds of food, clothing, electronics, and fun activities. Most of the stalls were run by IUB students. They approached the food shops, vendors and brands, cut a deal based on profit-sharing model. Some of the students were more innovative than others. They came up with their own products and services to participate in the event. Big brand stores such as, Bata, Jennys, Karigari, Watches world, Excel electronics, Nitol Electronics, Straw Jeans, Radio Foorti, including Daraz’s own store were there to adorn the two day long marketing carnival. A big thank-you to the Daraz BD Marketing protégés Munawwar Chowdhury and Amit Zaman for locking all the brands and deals in for this event.
On behalf of IUB Abul Khair Jyote, Senior Lecturer, School of Business said, “The entire motto of IUB Marketing Carnival is learning with festivity. Students who are participating will get an overall entrepreneurial perspective through this carnival. This is giving them a real life experience in salesmanship, business and accounts management and branding skills, to become a future entrepreneur. I would like to thank Daraz as our sponsor, without their support this event wouldn’t have been this successful. Daraz came to one of our live classrooms of the course Sales Force Management with their D-Force team to train students on how to make sales and how to run a sales force, which was an extra bonus to the training”.
Students participated in this two day long event, went with full enthusiasm by engaging in activities like taking fun photos at the photo booth, trying out the fortune wheel, buying amazing products, enjoyed yummy food, witnessing the mesmerizing song, dance and magic performed byIUB students. On the occasion famous YouTuber of the country Salman Muqtadir was there to entertain IUB crowd with his stand-up comedy.
Head of Marketing, Daraz Bangladesh and Myanmar, Sumit Jasoria said, “We are really overwhelmed by the response from the crowd here. They are checking out every stall, participating in all kinds of activities of the event. We are really happy to be a part of such kind of initiative of IUB which gives students a platform where they can explore real life challenges to start and run a business. This kind of real life experience will help them in their upcoming career.
Event ended with a raffle draw from Daraz’s side, where first prize winner got a Microsoft Lumia Smartphone and the second prize winner got a Symphony Smartphone from Daraz.
Event was attended by more than 5000 people, mostly students of Independent University, Bangladesh.
