Boi Mela is not only a typical bookfair anymore, nowadays it becomes a national and traditional ceremony of Bangladeshi people. It is named ‘Amor Ekushey Boi Mela’ after the pride of young martyrs death sacrifice for mother tongue back in 1952. Boi Mela is taking place since February 1972 at Bangla Academy. An extraordinary intellectual and publisher named Chittaranjan Saha had set up first Boi Mela at ‘bangla academy bottola’ with only 32 books on the ground which were published at West Bengal in 1971 during the liberation war of Bangladesh. So It can be said that the Ekushe Book Fair is not only a national bookfair but also a symbol of our culture. Read more
